This piece started as one of my original De Novo vest tops — a simple staple from my collection that I’ve always loved for its quality and versatility. But I wanted to breathe new life into it, to reimagine it in a way that felt more personal, more textured, and more me right now.

I started by sketching a fish directly onto the fabric — freehand, no plan, just with the enthusiasm to create.

Once the outline felt right, I began the process of beading. Each bead sewn by hand, catching the light, adding dimension, and turning the sketch into something beautifully tactile.

I love this addition to an already staple garment in the De Novo collection. It’s a reminder that creativity doesn’t always mean starting from scratch; sometimes it’s about seeing the potential in what’s already there and giving it new energy.

I was told recently that De Novo ‘is coming along with you on your journey’ and it made me realise, I’m not going anywhere, De Novo will always be right here with me, so why should I get so frustrated if im not on it with content all the time?

Christmas looked very different for me this year. It was our first Christmas without my dad, and it was tough. As many of you know my dad was an absolute legend in every single way! He had the biggest heart and the kindest soul and I miss him so much.

It sent me into a somewhat shut down mode over Christmas and I decided to take some time off of de novo to recoup.

I am looking forward to getting stuck back into the business in the new year, I already have lots of new designs that will be dropping soon!
